Mount Panorama — Warluu
Home of the Bathurst 1000, and one of the finest lookouts in the Central West.
Eglinton · Bathurst, NSW
Two heritage cottages on sixty-five working acres,
twelve minutes from Bathurst.
— 02 About
Restdown is a small scale working hay farm at Eglinton, the kind surrounded on every side by more farms. Ann and Michael have spent years replanting native trees and shrubs along the creek, watching the bird life come back, and building two quiet places to stay at the edge of it all.
Close enough to Bathurst for dinner in town. Far enough that the loudest thing you’ll hear tonight is the wind — and maybe the sheep.
— 03 The cottages
High ceilings, pressed tin walls, and a farmhouse kitchen that has stayed almost as it was. A glass-fronted wood fire, a deep bath and separate shower, and doonas thick enough for a Bathurst frost. The larger of the two — built for families, reunions, and long weekends that like to spread out.
View Nilgiri on Airbnb →The quieter of the pair. A clawfoot tub, a verandah built for the coffee-and-stars hour, and a garden path past the apple trees to an old telephone booth nobody has called in years. Built for two — or a small family who like to keep close.

Dinner, the Saturday markets, or a wander past sandstone streets in Australia’s oldest inland city.
Cool-climate wine country sits right on the doorstep, from crisp rieslings to elegant pinot.
World Heritage escarpments and blue-hazed valleys, an easy day trip east.
Ancient limestone chambers through the Fish River valley — among the oldest open caves on earth.
Bathurst’s elms and oaks turn gold every April — best seen on a slow drive out of town.
